Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. While almost any of the Pirates of the Caribbean films could be here, the second contains the large-scale action needed to push this disc ahead. The Kraken assaults are stunning, with splintered wood shattering throughout the sound field, and the tentacles smashing the deck with deep, subwoofer-rocking bass. This is a PCM mix to cherish.
Likewise, the video quality is immense in terms of depth, color saturation, and high fidelity detail. The complex costumes are flawlessly captured, free of imperfections. Faces are immensely textured, and the cinematography benefits from the rich, bold greens of the jungle environments.
Extras round off a two-disc set with an hour long documentary, fun commentary, visual effect deconstructions, and a great “fly on the set”
with no unneeded talking over the footage ripped right from the set. The disc is a complete package, and certainly deserving of it.
